    • hi there

just want to highlight something that happened to my uncle

he runs a modest catering business and was cheated of $4000 by a customer

This person wanted my uncle to cater for a wedding held at MacPherson CC on 16 Feb 2008 and said he would pay my uncle after collecting the wedding gifts.

However when my uncle's crew went to collect the equipment and payment, they found that everyone had left the CC.

He approached the CC but they refused to divulge the particulars of the person who had booked the hall.

Exasperated, my uncle made a police report and was told that as it was a civil case, the police could take no further action.
My uncle went to Sub-Court and a judge said a court order to force the CC to reveal the particulars would cost $3000!!!

Sadly, my uncle approached his MP and till now, they are still "looking into the matter"

For those who attended the wedding held at MacPherson CC on 16 Feb 2008,
please get the person responsible to contact my uncle ASAP.

To all caterers out there, please take care and don't be too trusting.
Better to be safe then sorry.

      x2.

Certainly he ought to have the clients' contact details and spoken to the client over the phone several times.

Even if the client somehow changed his handphone number or something.... there should be an address to track him down.

    • to be frank i also ask my uncle to write it off to inexperience and bad luck, the contact number he obtain has since become "unavailable"

what i dont get is how come the Police classify as civil case and dont pursue
i thought this is clear cut cheating? maybe some ex-SPF ppl can comment?

i also scratch head why Sub-court judge say 3K just for court order to get CC to reveal details

small claims court i think only handle 2K or less.

another thing that gets my goat is my uncle approach MP also hit wall.

i'm now trying to find ppl who attend the wedding on 16 Feb to come forward, PM me or just get the couple to pay up.
Who knows? the couple may not be responsible. the wedding planner/organiser could be the one who scammed my uncle

    • Please don’t tell me you Uncle does not have the brains to seal his client’s details before closing a deal & provdiding details?

This story kinda sounds fake to me.

Why the fuck wasting my time posting?
To ascertain people of not to reply tp topics such as these!

    • your uncle failed to plan....no client's details, contact number too? then how did he communicate with the client? no deposit too? how can this be possible? your uncle must really be that naive.....next time get him to collect a deposit and a post dated cheque for the balance....
